Background
In 1663, South Carolina was founded by eight English nobles with a Royal Charter from King Charles II. North and South Carolina were one colony until 1729, when they both became Royal Colonies. South Carolina was founded because of internal struggles taking place in Carolina. Charleston, SC later showed to be the cultural and economic center of the southern colonies. South Carolina is located in the southeast along the Atlantic coast. Like other Southern Colonies, South Carolina focused on plantations becuase of its humid climate.

King Charles II was the man who gave the grant to colonize South Caroline. With his grant, eight men were able to travel to America in order to colonize and set the South Carolina Colony.

Religious Affiliations & Implications
All religious groups in colonial South Carolina were accepted. The three most popular groups were Anglicans, noncomformists (dissenters from the Church of England), and French Hugenots. The first dissenters in South Carolina, from the Church of England, were the Presbyterians. In 1680, they formed the Circular Church in Charleston. The earliest settlers in South Carolina were the Quakers, Baptists, and Anabaptists.
Economics
South Carolina was much like North Carolina in the economic situation This was because both were part of the southern colony characterization so both had the economy based in the contribution of slavery. The trade that was made was for items such as lace, tools, and rice that was not as commonly found in South Carolina.
